Friday 26 April 2013 - Beijing, China
This morning I got the subway to Olympic Park aka the Birds Nest Stadium. Went inside and had a look around, it holds 110,000 people and I was pretty impressed by it and could imagine a Test match being played there. As well as that I did the airwalk which meant going up on the roof where they had the Olympic circles, from there got a good look around Beijing.
This afternoon we had our North Korea group briefing at Koryo Group office. They explained the do’s and don’ts and there wasn’t anything too scary, mostly common sense. If we took the approach of learning about NK instead of thinking we could change the lives of our guides then we would get more from the tour. We will have 2 guides, a male and female with us at all times, and we were to follow their directions and you cannot just walk off on your own. Having said that, we will be in Pyongyang on May 1 which is a big public holiday, May Day and the locals head for Kim Il Sung park for a day out and we are free to mingle as well.
So we meet up at Koryo office on Saturday at 10am for the bus to Beijing airport and fly to Pyongyang at 13:20 arriving 16:20, a 2 hour flight. NK time is 1 hour ahead of Beijing and is NZ time minus 3 hours. Here is a link to our itinerary in NK.

So folks, tomorrow we go in so will be off air for the next 7 days at least, due to no internet access in North Korea.
